Who should get a colon cancer screening?
Colon cancer screenings are recommended for all individuals who are 45 or older. You may be eligible at a younger age if you have a personal or family history of colorectal polyps, colorectal cancer, or other cancers, or if you have other risk factors like inflammatory bowel disease or prior abdominal radiation therapy.

Colonoscopies are not as intimidating as you may think—they require some at-home prep followed by a brief 30-minute procedure that involves diagnosing and in some cases removing any polyps found in your colon. It's the most effective way to detect colon cancer early.
