Our Accreditations & Awards
JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITATION
Joint Commission Accreditation and Certification evaluates the quality and safety of our organization and is recognized nationally as The Gold Seal of Approval® in health care. As part of earning this accreditation, we must undergo an unannounced, thorough on-site review of the quality and safety of care we provide. We must demonstrate our commitment to continuously meeting rigorous national standards. The conclusion of the on-site survey is a validation of the work to continuously comply with The Joint Commission's nationally developed standards.
COMMISSION ON CANCER (COC)
CoC accreditation is to help hospitals, treatment centers, and other facilities to improve the quality of their care through various cancer-related programs and activities. These programs must address the full spectrum of the disease ーfrom prevention to survivorship ー and have an emphasis on survival and quality of life.
ACCREDITED BREAST CENTER
The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) is granted only to those centers that are voluntarily committed to providing the best possible care to patients with diseases of the breast. Each breast center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with NAPBC Standards. To maintain accreditation, centers must monitor compliance with NAPBC Standards to ensure quality care, and undergo an onsite review every three years.
ACCREDITED RECTAL CANCER PROGRAM
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center earned a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons. BMDA demonstrated a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, specifically to those with rectal cancer. To achieve NAPRC accreditation, BMDA maintained compliance with the NAPRC standards addressing program management, clinical services and quality improvement for patients.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGY LUNG CANCER SCREENING CENTER
ACR Accreditation is considered to be the “gold standard” in medical imaging. To be ACR Accredited shows our commitment to providing the safest and best quality care possible to our patients, families and referring physicians.
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR RADIATION ONCOLOGY'S APEX - ACCREDITATION PROGRAM FOR EXCELLENCE®
Accreditation through APEx is a voluntary and rigorous multi-step process during which a facility’s radiation oncology practices are evaluated using consensus-based standards. The center must demonstrate its safety and quality processes and its adherence to patient-centered care by promoting effective communication, coordinated treatments and strong patient engagement.
CME-ACCREDITED WITH COMMENDATION
Accreditation with Commendation encourages and rewards CME providers for implementing best practices in pedagogy, engagement, evaluation, and change management. It also means we are focused on generating meaningful outcomes.
This special accreditation recognizes the achievements of our organization, including how we advance interprofessional collaborative practice, address public health priorities, create behavioral change, show leadership, leverage educational technology, and demonstrate the impact of education on healthcare professionals and patients.
JRCERT CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION
The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology provides accreditation to programs in radiologic sciences, including both traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry. It is the only accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
LUNG CANCER ALLIANCE
The Lung Cancer Alliance's Screening Centers of Excellence are committed to responsible, high-quality screening practices. To earn this designation, we must demonstrate and ensure that low-dose CT screening for lung cancer is carried out safely, efficiently and equitably.
QUALITY ONCOLOGY PRACTICE INITIATIVE (QOPI) CERTIFIED PRACTICE
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center earned a three-year certification from QOPI®, the quality program for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). This certification is awarded to outpatient hematology-oncology practices for meeting nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care.
Our center and our team members receive national and regional recognition for putting the needs of our patients first. In 2019, five of our physicians were recognized as Top Doctors of 2019 by Castle Connelly, a national physician directory.
