From the Doctor

Originally from New York, I recently moved to Jacksonville with my wife for its warm weather and beautiful beaches. I like to play tennis, badminton, or hike the trails when I am not traveling. At home, I like to work on my culinary repertoire and coffee skills, meditate to manifest positive outcomes, paint abstract expressions or host board game nights. I was previously an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida, mentoring the next generation of hematologist oncologists in their training program and actively involved in both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored institutional research efforts. While pursuing my MD at George Washington University, I worked in a laboratory to understand the genetic basis of leukemia under the tutelage of a Nobel Laureate, Ferid Murad, who inspired my enduring passion of hematology oncology.

My primary goal is to offer comprehensive care in diagnosing and treating patients with blood cancers and non-malignant blood disorders. By understanding the underlying biology of the disease, I create an individualized treatment plan for every patient based on the latest scientific advancements. Listening, treating each patient with empathy, and responding openly and honestly to that person’s questions and concerns is paramount to making my patients feel comfortable with their treatments.

Having now worked in multiple varied health systems, I have a strong interest in health care disparities and the socioeconomic and emotional barriers to cancer treatment and have pushed for improved access to life-saving treatments for our most vulnerable populations. I am fortunate to practice hematology oncology in such an exciting era with rapidly improving diagnostic and therapeutic options and I hope to be the patient’s strongest advocate through their medical journey. My long-term goal is to identify and develop curative treatments for blood cancers.
