Baptist Health wants to help former smokers make sure they stay cancer free. A low-dose CT lung cancer screening is a safe and quick way to detect lung cancer early, when it's most treatable. This non-invasive simple screening is covered by Medicare and some commercial insurance plans, and will be covered by all commercial insurers by 2023. For patients who have insurance carriers that do not yet cover the screening or for those who are uninsured, it is available for a self-pay rate of $115.
Please consider this important screening if you:
- are between 50 and 77 years old.
- have a 20 pack-year history of smoking or more (this means 1 pack a day for 20 years, 2 packs a day for 10 years, etc).
- are a current smoker or have quit within the last 15 years.
